Candidate qualifications for a Diabeties Nurse Educator - Peds Specialty Clinic
The Pediatric Diabetes Nurse Educator will provide diabetes education to pediatric patients and their families in an outpatient setting. The educator will respond to phone calls from parents of newly diagnosed children and adolescents with diabetes and provide education to help bridge the transition from inpatient to outpatient diabetes care. The educator will respond to phone calls regarding sick day management and day-to-day type 1 and type 2 diabetes concerns. He/she will also be responsible for the development, implementation, and evaluation of the Pediatric Diabetes Program, including intensive diabetes management with insulin pump therapy and new technologies. The educator will collaborate with a dynamic and dedicated group of physicians, nutritionists, psychologists, social workers and other staff to establish diabetes management plans and ensure continuity of care.
2 plus years of nursing experience preferred but not required and some experience with Diabetes in a Pediatrics clinical setting is helpful
Special Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE) with experience with diabetes technology is preferred but not required.
