The Registered Nurse (RN) manages the direct patient care of an identified group of patients in the Operating Room. The RN assumes the primary responsibility and accountability for the delivery of all patient care, including care provided by those directly under his/her direction, such as the OR Technicians, Surgical Assistant, Patient Care Technician and any other non-licensed provider of care. The RN uses nursing theory to appropriately assess, reassess, deliver and evaluate care given while incorporating all Joint Commission recommended practices into care routines. Communication within and outside of the care team is essential to providing and meeting the plan of care. An RN is assigned charge responsibilities on a rotating basis, as
needed. Responsible for ensuring that satisfaction and service to all customers is achieved.

Work Location: Howard County General Hospital

BSN is preferred for nurses hired prior to July 1, 2016.
All nurses hired after July 1, 2016 must:
•Hold a BSN, or
•Complete a BSN program within 4 years of their hire date with steady progress toward degree completion. Steady progress is defined as a minimum of 9 credits per calendar year from the time they begin course work. RNs who are not yet enrolled in a BSN program, must apply to and be accepted into a BSN program within six months of hire, with course work to begin promptly after acceptance.
