POSITION SUMMARY:

The PM&R Rehab Aide:

Works under the direct supervision of the Inpatient or Outpatient Manager and/or Rehab Therapy Services Team Leader and the guidance of the Team Coordinator and a licensed Physical Therapist or Occupational Therapist

Works collaboratively with all members of the multidisciplinary health care team

Promotes improvement in service, department and hospital systems to benefit patient care

Incorporates and operationalizes the goals and objectives of the Hospital and Department at the site of care

Work Location: Johns Hopkins Outpatient Rehab at White Marsh

COMPETENCIES:

Education:

High School Diploma or GED;

Required Licensure, Certification, Etc.

Annual CPR Certification;

Work Experience:

Six months prior experience in a Physical Therapy/Occupational Therapy clinical setting preferred.

Knowledge:

Knowledge of basic medical terminology, first aide, safety and therapy equipment

Knowledge of current health care environment.

Annual completion of required departmental training.

Skills:

Ability to prioritize tasks and utilize good time management.

Ability to take initiative and spontaneously respond to clinic, department and patient needs.

Ability to motivate and maintain a positive attitude.

Highly effective interpersonal skills to communicate with patients, staff, other departments and vendors.

Ability to read catalogues and maintain inventory.

Ability to use a computer keyboard to input and obtain data.

Working Conditions:

Loads, unloads and moves clinical and/or office supplies and equipment. Possible exposure to communicable diseases and hazardous materials with little likelihood of harm if established health precautions are followed.

Work requires standing and/or walking for extended periods of time.

Work requires lifting and/or assisting patients during treatment activities.

Work may require contact with aggressive and/or combative patients.

Work areas may be noisy and crowded. Employees in this position will be required to adhere to work availability and departmental scheduling requirements. This may include, but is not limited to, weekends, early morning/late day shifts, holidays.

Work may be performed in a variety of clinic locations.
