Sibley Memorial Hospital is seeking Respiratory Therapists for PRN shifts.  Must have DC Respiratory license and either CRT or RRT.   

12 Hour shifts available for both days and nights  


Under general supervision, sets up, operates and maintains oxygen and other therapeutic gas and mist inhalation equipment and mechanical ventilation equipment in order to administer prescribed doses of medical gases and aerosolized drugs to patients with cardiopulmonary disease. Assists clinical technical staff in resolving clinical problems. Performs all duties that are required of the Respiratory Care Practitioner.

Responsible for the administration of all respiratory care modalities that include the following:

  • mechanical ventilation
  • oxygen therapy
  • airway management
  • Bronchopulmonary hygiene techniques
  • endotracheal and deep tracheal suctioning

Completes all departmental records to assure that billing documentation and equipment utilization are accurate and up-to-date.

Education: Associates Degree in Respiratory Care required. Graduation from a Registered Respiratory Therapy Program approved by the Council For The Accreditation Of Respiratory Care Education (CoARC). Bachelor's degree in Respiratory Care or other approved bachelor's degree preferred.


Must have knowledge of respiratory care and related equipment as gained in a JRCTE-approved respiratory care program and 3-6 months of experience. Requires the aptitude to be trained and the knowledge to apply all equipment used in respiratory care. Proficiency in the use and clinical application of equipment includes the following: mechanical ventilators, extra corporeal membrane oxygenation systems (ECMO) surfactant administration; jet and oscillation ventilation equipment; all nebulization; oxygen, mixed gas systems and administration, positive and negative pressure apparatus cardio pulmonary resuscitation airway management systems and equipment and any appropriate equipment used to treat patients with cardio-pulmonary diseases.

CRT or RRT required.   D.C. Respiratory License Required. BLS required.
