Respiratory Therapists at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center work in four core teams: (1) Main Hospital-Acute Care Adults and Pediatrics, which includes five separate adult ICUs (medical, cardiac, surgical, neuro, burn); adult ED and Peds/Peds ED; member of code, rapid response and trauma teams, (2) Neonatal-NICU team, (3) Specialty Hospital-Vent Rehab team, and (4) Pulmonary Rehab. We are currently growing our Main-Acute Care and NICU teams, including Specialist-Shift Lead positions.
Our therapists offer high quality care with an interdisciplinary team approach. Highlights include multidisciplinary rounds, jet ventilation and nitric oxide therapy in the NICU, ICU protocols, Peds Asthma protocol, undiluted bronchodilator continuous nebulizer therapy using vibrating mesh technology, ICU JHB-RBRS (respiratory bounceback risk score) assessments, State Asthma Camp involvement, and other community benefit activities throughout the year.
We offer a comprehensive structured orientation, including extended orientation for new grads. After orientation completion, our staff enjoy a self-scheduling process to assist with work-life balance. Staff appreciate the strong support from leadership, dept.-sponsored annual CEU conferences, recognition awards, and value a work environment comprised of close working relationships with each other and the multidisciplinary team
