The Retail Rx Specialist II works at an advanced level of proficiency to bill government payors, third-party, patients and Johns Hopkins Programs in an effective, efficient, accurate and timely manner to assure the greatest possible payment in the shortest amount of time for the outpatient pharmacies. Understands reimbursement policies of third party payers, specifically governmental payor guidelines. Works independently researching and solving complex billing and collection issues in a timely manner. Assertive and capable of identifying and resolving problems. Acts as a resource and helps train others. Must have strong customer service skills. Quality of work performed is consistent and can quantify results.
Reporting to the Manager Rx Reimbursement and Medication Access.
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Registration with the Maryland Board of Pharmacy is required.
- Two years of medical billing experience.
- Pharmacy expereince preferred.
- Knowledge of Billing and Collections practices - specifically Medicare and other goverment payers.
- Policies and Provisions of Insurance Plans
- Medical Terminology
- High degree of attention to detail
- Good communication skills
- Computer knowledge (Excel, Word etc.) including billing systems
- Organizational skills
- Analytical ability to prepare reports and reconcile statements
