This critical leadership position within the hospital organization that is crucial to the fulfillment of the hospital’s mission. Responsible for all aspects related to the planning, management, direction and performance of the Safety Department.
Role Accountabilities:

In collaboration with hospital leadership, the Safety Director leads development, implementation, and monitoring of the institute’s strategic and safety plans

Responsible for the Environment of Care Program as the chairperson and reports directly on the Safety, Fire Safety, and Hazardous Material/Waste requirements as set by the Joint Commission and AHCA

Responsible for ensuring all NFPA, Joint Commission, CMS, OSHA, AHCA, and other state and federal regulatory requirements for hospital safety and emergency preparedness are met

Maintains the hospital Comprehensive Emergency Management Plan (CEMP) in accordance with county emergency management and state AHCA

Staff educator and trainer for FEMA Hospital Emergency Response Team, Defensive Driving Course, assists Human Resources to ensure that all JHACH drivers have valid driver’s licenses

Maintain Hazardous Materials Waste Records

Responsible for coordination of activities and ensures continual compliance with regulatory standards
Education and Experience Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree with emphasis in safety management
7 years of progressive management experience
5 years of experience in an academic medical center, hospital, or health care integrated delivery system managing safety preferred
Supervisory experience
Certification as a Healthcare Safety Professional or Certified Safety Professional
National Safety Council Instructor
