Position Summary:

Johns Hopkins Medicine created the Internet Strategy and Web Services team to serve as a central strategic leader in the exploration, development, execution, and analysis of a digital strategy that connects the people of the world to the people of Johns Hopkins Medicine. Serving all aspects of the three-part mission of research, education and patient care, the team leads the creation and execution of a comprehensive online strategy including content creation and distribution, user-centered design and development, Internet marketing and social engagement, and data-driven performance analysis.

The Senior Online Search Marketing Specialist reports to the Manager of Internet Marketing and Social Engagement and oversees departmental and enterprise level search marketing activities, inclusive of SEO, SEM and the optimization of business listings (including hospital locations, faculty and departments). This position performs research on new techniques, technology and competitors to enhance SEM and SEO capabilities and identifies areas for improvement for an array of healthcare centric clients and service lines. The senior specialist will create strategies with prominent search engines, develop and test new keywords, manage Pay-Per-Click campaigns, analyze click-through data, conduct research and identify synergies between SEO and SEM. This person works closely with agency partners to unsure that campaigns and projects are managed effectively and optimized where necessary.


Requires a Bachelor's Degree preferably in Marketing or Communications. Equivalent experience and training, in digital communications, web marketing or social media, beyond the work experience requirement may be substituted on a 2:1 basis.

Work Experience:

5+ years’ experience in managing paid and organic search marketing campaigns.


Day Full Time (40 hours)

8:30 am – 5:00 pm


Required Licensure, Certification:

AdWords Certificate is preferred.
