General Summary:

  • This position performs QI activities specific to the perioperative unit which include concurrent and retrospective chart review, observation of clinical and operational performance, and data collection and analysis; to assess performance. Responsibilities include medical record review, QI data analysis and reporting, conducting clinical audits and tracers, Physician Advisor interaction, and special projects which are coordinated and directed by the QI/UM Team Leader, Manager, or Director. May design and initiate special projects as supervised by department management.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Completion of an accredited Nursing (RN), Physician's Assistant, or bachelor's degree in related healthcare, preferred.
  • Requires five years equivalent full-time clinical experience as registered nurse, M.D., P.A., Experience in at least two areas of clinical specialty is preferred. Prefer a minimum of three years related experience in quality improvement or safety, collecting and analyzing data, preparing reports, identifying and solving problems and conducting educational programs with hospital staff, facilitating discussion with multidisciplinary team to recommend solutions etc.
    Must possess advanced interpersonal and communication written and verbal skills necessary to gather and exchange data (both internally and externally) with members of the health care team. Ability to independently assess which data management and statistical strategies are needed to optimally report outcomes. Ability to assess medical records and make determinations on clinical criteria with policies and procedures, with experience in assigned specialty. Demonstrated competence in all areas identified in the Competencies, Dimensions, Problem solving, and Information Management sections.
  • Licensed in the State of Maryland as a Registered Nurse (RN), Physician Assistant (PA), or licensure in a related healthcare position. Relevant experience in a health care setting with experience in statistical analysis preferred.
