Position Summary:
The Coding Supervisor- Clinic & Outpatient Coding under the direction of the Manager, Clinic & Outpatient Coding, is responsible for providing daily operational oversight of the Clinic & Outpatient Coding Specialists for the Johns Hopkins Health System. The Coding Supervisor- Clinic & Outpatient Coding serves as the immediate supervisor and coding authority for the Outpatient Coding Specialists, and is required to maintain coding, abstracting, and knowledge of CMS's HOPPS reimbursement methodology, CPT/ HCPCS coding methodologies, as well as Maryland's HSCRC requirements at a level that exceeds that of the Clinic & Outpatient Coding Specialists. This position will provide leadership to support the goals of the Outpatient Coding Division of accurate code assignment, timely billing, and accurate reimbursement.
Education:
Associate’s degree in Health Information Management with the required credentials, or work experience equivalent to two years of HIM Coding leadership experience, for one year of education experience, i.e. 8 years.
Work Experience:
Minimum of three to five (3-5) years of supervisory experience in Health Information Management and Coding. Expert knowledge of current coding classification systems. Prior work experience must include project and/or management experience in a highly automated revenue cycle environment, with demonstrated experience managing Outpatient Accounts Receivable and DNFB. Must demonstrate team-building experience, and process improvement concepts, to positively influence the work environment.
Licensure/Certification:
RHIA or RHIT and CCS credential required
