The Supervisor, Pathologist Assistant reports to the Pathology Lab Manager and under direction of Medical Directors. Is responsible for coordinating all activities of the department to achieve goals and objectives, working through a subordinate supervisory staff. With limited supervision of an attending pathologist and the Pathology Lab Manager, performs gross examination of surgical pathology specimens, including dissection, description and tissue sectioning for histological preparation. Develops in collaboration with senior management; department goals, objectives, operational policies, and procedures. Responsible for monitoring adherence to hospital and departmental policies/procedures, within the department and across all shifts. Responsible for administration of the department budget. Performs other related administrative and professional duties.

Full Time, Day shift (40 hours)

8:00 am - 4:30 pm

Education:

Graduation from a NAACLS accredited baccalaureate or post baccalaureate Pathologists Assistant Training program and ASCP BOR certified (or ASCP BOR exam eligible) or completion of a Bachelor’s degree with a major or minor or equivalent in any of the biological or allied health sciences and ASCP BOR certified or exam eligible is preferred. (Must meet minimum education requirements for high complexity testing per CLIA).

Work Experience:

Work requires 5-10 years of progressive laboratory experience to acquire a foundation of knowledge and familiarity with the scope of laboratory operations. At minimum of 3 years of supervisory or management experience is preferred.

Licensure/Certifications:

Must be a certified Pathologist Assistant (ASCP) or other pathology recognized certification.
