Casual (Less than 20 hours)
The Ultrasound Technologist is under the direct supervision of the Ultrasound Supervisor, the Ultrasound Technologist performs professional duties involved in a variety of diagnostic images. Receives limited direction from the radiologist and general supervision from the Ultrasound Supervisor. This individual is responsible for the independent operation of sonographic equipment, and for performing and communicating results of diagnostic examinations using sonography. Ultrasound examinations performed include general, pediatrics, obstetrical, gynecological and vascular. Vascular examinations include carotid studies, upper and lower extremities venous studies, upper and lower arterial studies, and other vascular studies (such as vein mapping, AV fistula, segmented arterial pressure and bypass graft). This individual is responsible for adhering to departmental standards and expectations regarding patient schedule, equipment maintenance, the reporting of equipment failure, and quality assurance (QA). This individual maintains a high standard of medical ethics at all times, and is selfmotivated to increase her/his level of understanding and knowledge of the field, disease, and new procedures as they evolve. Requires normal courtesy and tact in dealing with others.
1. Graduate of an accredited Medical Sonography Program.
2. One (1) year of ultrasound technologist experience preferred.
1. Current Registry with the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) and at least one ARDMS clinical certification in abdomen or OB/GYN.
2. If hired without ARDMS credentials, must pass the registry exam by the ARDMS, plus one clinical certification, within the first year of employment.
3. Current CPR certification or to be completed by end of HCGH orientation period.
4. Current credentials as a Registered Vascular Technologist is preferred.

Demonstrates ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs.
Identifies the physical, motor, sensory, cognitive and psychosocial characteristics for age group(s) served.
Demonstrates age appropriate communication skills.
Demonstrates ability to provide the care needed as described in the job description and the department's scope of service for the patient groups under his/her care. Age group(s) served will be one or more of the following: Infant (Birth to 12 months), Child (13 months to 12 years), Adolescent (13 years to 17 years), Adult (18 years to 69 years) or Geriatric (70 years and older).
