Position Summary:

Under the general supervision of the Chief Imaging Technologist and with the assistance of a physician, performs diagnostic ultrasound and intervention procedures, clinical research studies and orients and educates medical staff in theory and applications of sonographic technology.

Education:

High School diploma or equivalent and successful completion of an approved curriculum in diagnostic ultrasound.

Work Experience:

One year experience with clinical scanning, sonogram examinations and equipment usage.

Licensure/Certification:

Registered by The American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) and CPR certification Certification, Etc. required.

Knowledge/Skills:

  • Knowledge of an Ultrasound Sonographer and a comprehensive understanding of all protocols and procedures. Requires comprehensive understanding of procedures and protocols followed in conducting ultrasound examinations. Knowledge and advanced skills in using all equipment in department.
  • Advanced skills are necessary to obtain and document a complete examination. High level analytical ability to obtain appropriate images and required measurements for a diagnostic sonography examination. Interpersonal and communication skills necessary to assist in teaching physicians and other health care personnel regarding the scheduling and/or procedures performed in diagnostic
