Under the general supervision of the Chief Imaging Technologist and with the assistance of a physician, performs diagnostic ultrasound and intervention procedures, clinical research studies and orients and educates medical staff in theory and applications of sonographic technology.
High School diploma or equivalent and successful completion of an approved curriculum in diagnostic ultrasound.
One year experience with clinical scanning, sonogram examinations and equipment usage.
Registered by The American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) and CPR certification Certification, Etc. required.
- Knowledge of an Ultrasound Sonographer and a comprehensive understanding of all protocols and procedures. Requires comprehensive understanding of procedures and protocols followed in conducting ultrasound examinations. Knowledge and advanced skills in using all equipment in department.
- Advanced skills are necessary to obtain and document a complete examination. High level analytical ability to obtain appropriate images and required measurements for a diagnostic sonography examination. Interpersonal and communication skills necessary to assist in teaching physicians and other health care personnel regarding the scheduling and/or procedures performed in diagnostic
