VP Risk Management is responsible for the leadership of Johns Hopkins Risk Management Program and Department, which includes regulatory services, patient care issues, ethics, medical staff, and legal advice. This includes management and supervision of attorneys, paraprofessionals and staff. Also advises the General Counsel and Deputy General Counsel with respect to the overall management and direction of the Department, implements Departmental policies and procedures , is responsible for improving the engagement of all employees within the practice group and for collegiality and collaboration among practice groups. Leads special projects and ad hoc committees as requested.

This position is responsible for the provision of legal advice regarding risk management, patient care, ethics, and regulatory matters to the clinical staff and administration of The Johns Hopkins Health System Corporation (“JHHS”) and its affiliates. It includes the responsibility to develop, coordinate, and oversee the JHHS Risk Management Program. It includes responsibility for the interpretation of laws and regulations and TJC standards and other regulatory bodies and provision of advice on related issues. It includes legal and risk management advice to JHHS entities during crises, including work place violence, public health emergencies, and disasters. It involves the development and review of JHHS policies; medical/legal/ethical presentations for employees of JHHS and of The Johns Hopkins University
