The RCM Operations Program Director - Financial Clearnce provides strategic leadership and data driven recommendations to optimize revenue cycle financial clearance operations across the health system. This role acts as a an owner of assigned operational areas, proactively identifying improvement opportunities, advancing best practices, and driving execution of complex revenue cycle and financial clearance initiatives. The director serves as a change agent, ensuring billing and patient financial processes comply with organizational, federal, state and third party requirements while maximizing operational performance. The role requires expertise in EPIC and related revenue cycle systems, with the ability to leverage system functionality to improve outcomes.

The director will serve as the JHHS Financial Clearnce Integration and Operational Continuity Leader for clinical services/departments across Johns Hopkins Health System. This role ensures end-to-end continuity of prior authorization and financial clearance workflows by driving standardized processes, technology optimization, and cross-functional execution with strong project management. The Director leads financial clearance integration for new and expanded service lines, oversees related projects and denials impacting clearance, and partners with clinical and operational leaders to improve workflows, strengthen governance, reduce denials, and drive measurable improvements in reimbursement and revenue cycle performance.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Revenue Cycle Management: Strong understanding of hospital revenue cycle workflows, denial drivers, payer behavior, and reimbursement impact.
  • Project Management: Proven ability to lead complex, multi stakeholder initiatives, manage dependencies, assign accountability, and maintain momentum.
  • Analytical Skills: Advanced ability to analyze data, interpret performance metrics, and generate actionable insights; Epic reporting expertise preferred.
  • Communication: Clear and effective verbal and written communication across all organizational levels.
  • Problem Solving: Ability to identify issues quickly, develop solutions, and drive resolution.
  • Strategic Thinking: Ability to align operational improvements and denial prevention strategies with organizational goals.
  • Leadership: Demonstrated experience leading teams, setting expectations, and driving performance.
  • Operational Management: Knowledge of process improvement, workflow optimization, and operational governance.
  • Organizational Development: Understanding of change management and organizational behavior.
  • Technology: Proficiency with Epic revenue cycle applications, project management tools, Microsoft Office, and related systems.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in business or healthcare; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in healthcare revenue cycle operations or a related field, or 5 years of experience with Epic and or a top tier consulting firm.
  • Minimum of 5 to 7 years of progressive management experience.
  • HFMA certification preferred.

Salary Range: Minimum 63.85/hour - Maximum 111.75/hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility. In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount, salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls, before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
