We are seeking a skilled Pharmacy Prior Authorization Specialist to join our team. This role, under the direct supervision of the Prior Authorization Supervisor, involves collaborating with pharmacists, medical staff, billing assistants, and external entities such as third-party payers and prescription benefit management companies. This is a remote position.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process and verify prescriptions for various disease states.
  • Address and resolve rejected insurance claims.
  • Conduct and complete third-party prior authorization requests.
  • Verify prescriptions for non-Hopkins entities when necessary.
  • Review patient-specific Epic Medical Charts to ensure insurance criteria are met.
  • Input prior authorization referrals into the Epic Pharmacy Tool Kit.
  • Assist the patient assistance team in securing access to necessary medications.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalency
  • Registration with the Maryland Board of Pharmacy is required upon hire.
  • PTCB Certification, national certification with the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board required.
  • Two (2) years pharmacy technician experience.
  • One (1) year in health care related billing and or retail pharmacy required, three (3) years preferred.

Salary Range: Minimum $20.53/hour - Maximum $33.90/hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility. In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount, salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls, before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
