Position Summary:

The Host/Hostess assists the department through the delivery of trays to patients and retrieval of trays from patients. Assists in the dish room when scheduled.

Education:

  • High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
  • Must be literate to the extent of reading and understanding printed menus and diet restrictions.
  • Food service experience desired but not required.

Experience:

  • Basic knowledge of food handling techniques.
  • Customer service skills.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively and exhibit the Customer Service Performance Standards.
  • Excellent personal hygiene.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Accurately check trays against menu to ensure tray accuracy.
  • Timely delivery of patient’s tray using the correct procedures of At Your Request Room Service program.
  • Effectively communicates with nursing personnel concerning patients’ trays.
  • Timely retrieval of patient’s tray from room and soiled utility room at the end of each meal.
  • Performs patient's follow-up after meal service to ensure patient satisfaction.
  • Responds to special requests in a timely manner. Reports any concern or problem to Food Services Team Leaders or eating problems to the appropriate Dietician.
  • Effective communication with patient regarding the Room Service program and menu located in each patient’s room, bedside.
  • Patient’s nourishment supply should be accurately maintained at required par level.
  • Patient’s refrigerator located on each unit should he kept clean, organized with FIFO (First In First Out) in place and temperatures accurately recorded daily.
  • Participates is FOSS (Focus on Service Spirit) training and CARES (Compassion, Accountability, Respect, Enthusiasm & Service) behaviors.
  • Adheres to all hospital and departmental policies and procedures.

Salary Range: Minimum 18.27/hour - Maximum 28.91/hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility. In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount, salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls, before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
