POSITION SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Lifeline Program Manager, this role oversees the team that coordinates physician-to-physician communications. The supervisor serves as a key resource, assessing the needs of referring physicians and assisting them in navigating internal systems to access information. Responsibilities include managing staff schedules and ensuring adequate coverage to maintain seamless operations.

Shift: Full-time position, 40 hours per week, rotating shift. Holiday and weekend work is required.

Education: High School or equivalent required; some college or preferred.

Knowledge: Work requires comprehensive knowledge of The Johns Hopkins Enterprise, including how to obtain the information required to facilitate physician communications. Must have working knowledge of JHMI policies and procedures.

Skills: Work requires comprehensive knowledge of JHMI and its policies and procedures.

Skills are generally acquired through 5 years of experience as a Hopkins Access Line Referral Coordinator. Must have substantial interpersonal skills necessary to interface with peers in the work environment and to manage customer complaints and issues. Must be able to handle a fast-paced environment and potentially high-stress situations. Able to manage multiple work priorities.

Analytical skills required to resolve problems. Experience in a service-related healthcare occupation.

Work Experience: Five years of experience as a Physician Referral Coordinator. Some experience with budget management and maintenance of office equipment. Basic understanding of the HAL computer database system and the ACD (Automatic Call Distributor). Strong medical terminology is normally acquired through a formal course.

Supervisory Responsibility: Serves as a resource for staff personnel. Ability to work in a self-directed fashion with little immediate oversight. Participates and makes recommendations in the interview process. Completes evaluations for assigned staff members and meets with them to review.

Manages attendance discipline and performance discipline with input from the manager. Participates in the training of new personnel in work processes and competencies. Orients team members to the expediter functions.

Prepares payroll; develops and posts schedules; monitors attendance; recommends schedule changes to cover increased call volumes. Oversee the daily operations of Hopkins Access Line

Ensure quality control with calls and documentation. Develop and coach staff for improved performance

Salary Range: Minimum 21.56/hour - Maximum 37.68/hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility. In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount, salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls, before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
