Sibley Memorial Hospital is seeking a dedicated Palliative Care Nurse Practitioner for a temporary/PRN position to support our palliative care consultative service. This role will focus on enhancing the quality of life for patients facing serious illnesses through collaborative care planning and symptom management. This is an outpatient position with 1-2 days per week required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement palliative care education for staff.
- Create evidence-based protocols and guidelines.
- Coordinate patient referrals and develop individualized care plans in consultation with physicians.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including family and social support resources.
- Ensure compliance with ethical standards and regulatory requirements.
- Engage in quality improvement initiatives and maintain accurate documentation.
Qualifications:
- Current Nurse Practitioner license in the District of Columbia.
- Master’s degree in Nursing from an accredited institution. DC Certification.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in geriatrics, hospice, or palliative care.
- Strong communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of age-specific patient needs and community resources.

Salary Range: Minimum 81.51/hour - Maximum 81.51/hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility. In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount, salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls, before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
