SUMMARY

Responsibilities include case identification and initial entry into the trauma registry, clinical chart abstraction and data entry (completion) into the Maryland State Trauma Registry for treated/released trauma patients, ED trauma transfers and ED trauma deaths. Position is also responsible for monitoring the hospital alert/diversion status.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

A. Required Education / Experience

  • Work requires the level of knowledge typically acquired through completion of an associate’s degree in healthcare administration, emergency health services or informatics and two years previous experience. Experience should include medical terminology database management and ICD9 coding.
  • Work requires the analytical skills to resolve problems that require the use of basic scientific, mathematical, or technical principles.
  • Work requires the ability to exchange information on factual matters, greet visitors, explain medical center policies and/or relay messages to appropriate personnel. This type of interaction requires courtesy and tact when dealing with patients, visitors and/or medical center employees. More sensitive situations may be referred to others as appropriate.

  • Using a keyboard to interact with computer system.
  • Proofreading and/or reviewing documents
  • Sitting for extended periods of time.

Working Conditions Work is generally performed in an office environment in which there is only minimal exposure to unpleasant and/or hazardous working conditions.

Salary Range: Minimum 24.32/hour - Maximum 40.16/hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility. In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount, salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls, before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
