General Position Summary: The IT Specialist reports to a Manager in the IT Department and will participate in basic development, implementation, maintenance, , support and documentation of various departmental and enterprise-wide application systems. This includes installation, modification, and testing of new and/or upgraded applications (packages or home grown), operating systems, file structures, hardware, communication devices, and productivity tools. Under guidance, this position will assist in gathering and translating business requirements into functional/technical specifications and designs, and will assist in maintaining databases and application system code.
Job Scope/Complexity - The IT Specialist has basic understanding of the IT project life cycle, and will work under supervision/guidance for assigned sections of life cycle by referencing existing code, documented methods or through online resources. Concepts used are generally simple and standard.
Job Responsibilities: Position is responsible for providing basic data & voice connectivity and troubleshooting device issues for customers throughout the Johns Hopkins enterprise. Job complexity includes basic network switch/router configurations/installations, printer replacement, phone/handset replacement, fixing data/voice jack issues, patching data cables, and interfacing with customers to understand needs. This job is 100% on-site at Mount Washington Campus.
Preferred Qualifications: 1. Perform basic analysis around data and/or voice communications by using appropriate tools to document needs of customers. 2. Perform and verify basic switch configuration tasks by using standard tools to provide service to customers. 3. Install network hardware, software, and cabling, including data jacks, by using established procedures and tools to deliver quality products to customers. 4. Implement changes by adhering to the change management policies and procedures for any given project. Communicate to all parties the nature, significance, and risk factors of the solution. 5. Select the appropriate media cables to interconnect switches and other related network devices by using established procedures and tools to deliver a stable network environment to customers. 6. Manages video conference network infrastructure and video conference system endpoints to support internal and external collaboration for clinical and administrative meetings. 7. Manages and maintains audio/video (A/V) systems, performs preventive maintenance, testing, and implement audio, video, and control systems to support the enterprise requirements for collaboration tools in the JHACH conference rooms.
Required Education: High School diploma/GED. .
Required Experience: Six months of experience in a professional environment including experience obtained through an internship or fellowship program is required. Experience with computing devices and operating systems preferred.

Working Conditions
- Works in an office environment. Sometimes needs to travel between various JHHS locations.
- Work requires visual acuity (including close vision, color vision for close computer work)
- Work involves working in a fast-paced environment with exposure to noises, of an open office setting, and with frequent interruptions. (i.e., phone calls, last minute demands requiring prompt resolution).
Salary Range: Minimum $18.26/visit - Maximum $1.97/visit. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility. In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount, salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls, before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
