Summary: Under the supervision of the Sterile Processing Department Manager or Team Leader, the Sterile Processing Technician Trainee participates in the decontamination, cleaning, assembly, packaging, scanning, sterilization, storage, and distribution of reusable surgical instruments and equipment. The trainee develops foundational sterile processing knowledge and skills while supporting quality, safety, operational efficiency, and effective patient care.
Education: High school diploma or equivalent required
Required Certification and Ongoing Training: Must obtain certification through the Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD) or Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA), formerly IAHCSMM, within two years of hire.
Work Experience: No prior sterile processing experience required; previous healthcare or sterile processing exposure is preferred.
Salary Range: Minimum 19.85/hour - Maximum 32.76/hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility. In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount, salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls, before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
