Position Summary:
The Pharmacy Technician II in Investigational Drug Services (IDS) is responsible for a variety of duties to assist in the preparation and packaging of medications, distribution and delivery of medications, supporting the maintenance of proper inventory levels, and keeping appropriate records and documentation. IDS refers to clinical research pharmacy operations that manager study medications and products for human clinical trials.
Shift: Full-time, rotating days, evenings and nights
Education:
Requires a high school diploma or equivalent.
Completion of a pharmacy technician training program is desirable.
Licensure/Certification:
Current registration with the Maryland State Board of Pharmacy as a Pharmacy Technician. Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) certified required.
Required Work Experience:
No pharmacy technician experience required as long as certified and registered with the Maryland Board of Pharmacy; a minimum of 3-6 months of work experience as a Pharmacy Technician in a hospital pharmacy setting desired
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Requires knowledge of pharmacy work routines, procedures, materials and/or equivalent.
Requires knowledge of pharmacy terminology, medication names and aseptic technique.
Requires IV admixture and chemo certification by the pharmacy department.
Requires analytical ability to maintain records, measure drugs, and recognize common computer errors.
Requires interpersonal skills to interact with physicians, nurses, and other allied health professionals to obtain, verify and exchange information.
