About the Role
The Public Safety Officer I plays a key role in ensuring the safety and security of patients, visitors, and staff within our healthcare facilities. This position supports a secure, welcoming environment by monitoring hospital grounds, responding to emergencies, and enforcing safety protocols. Key Responsibilities

Patrol hospital entrances, units, parking areas, and grounds to deter hazards and ensure safety.

Monitor surveillance cameras, access control points, and alarm systems.

Respond to calls for assistance, providing escorts, directions, and support to staff, patients, and visitors.

Enforce safety and security policies, including weapons screening and access control.

Assist with emergency response, crowd control, and incident coordination with clinical teams.

Conduct inspections of emergency exits, equipment, and life safety systems.

Document incidents and maintain accurate activity logs.

Participate in required training—including CPR, Narcan, Stop the Bleed, and de-escalation.

Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and respect for all individuals.
Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent.

Full valid driver's licence is required-
- As part of the pre-employment process, a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check and a SambaSafety risk assessment will be conducted.
- Candidates must have no more than 5 points on their MVR.
- Candidates must also have no more than 8 points from driving-related infractions, violations, convictions or no more than 15 or more points resulting from any type of non-valid license status (expired, suspended, etc.) on their Samba risk assessment.

At least 1 year of security or customer service experience required.

Must be 21 years old .

Physical ability to stand and walk for extended periods, occasionally run or climb stairs, restrain individuals as part of a team, and lift 50+ lbs.
