JHSCS Operating Room Equipment Technician 

Fulltime, Days 4 hours

8am to 4:30pm ( no Call/ Weekends or Holidays)

General Summary:

  • Provides clinical support, and transportation services and activities to promote patient comfort and satisfaction.  Works under the direction of a Registered Nurse.  In addition, under the direction of RN and in cooperation with all the members of the patient care team, performs a wide range of duties including clerical, materials management, environmental and interdepartmental/intradepartmental communication to fully support the peri-operative unit.  Utilizes information systems, maintains inventory supply, performs operating and procedure room turnover, picks items and equipment needed for surgical procedures, transports specimens to the lab, aids in OR/PR set up, as well as assisting nursing and medical personnel in other delegated direct and indirect patient care activities.  Contributes to a positive work environment as an active team member with a commitment to learning and skill development. The JHSCS OR Equipment Technician will primarily work in the Operating & Procedure Room and occasionally flex to other units to meet the daily operational needs of the JHSCS.

Duties:  Preparation of the Operating Room with special attention to OR Equipment

 Ensure that the operating room is sterile and ready for surgical procedures by cleaning and organizing equipment.

Equipment Management:  Inspect and maintain surgical equipment, ensuring it is functioning properly before and after procedures. This includes documenting any repairs or maintenance needed. 

This position requires an attention to details, very labor intensive, OR/ Sterile Processing background a plus. 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 1 year recent experience in a healthcare environment
