SUMMARY

The Team Leader, HIM Document Imaging, under the leadership of the Supervisor, Document Imaging, will provide support to Document Imaging Specialists at one or more hospitals.

The Team Leader will monitor daily operations, coordinate work assignments, serve as a resource for process questions and will serve as the escalation resource for customer service concerns, in the absence of the Supervisor, Document Imaging. The Team Leader will provide expert knowledge for operational questions regarding Document Imaging. The Team Leader will apply hospital and departmental policies and procedures when trouble-shooting issues and concerns.

In the absence of Supervisor, Document Imaging, the Team Leader, HIM Document Imaging will serve as the HIM contact for internal and external customers, and escalate issues that are not able to be resolved to the Supervisor, Document Imaging, Manager, HIM Operations, or the HIM Director as applicable. The Team Leader, HIM Document Imaging will recommend process improvement opportunities and keep the Supervisor, Document Imaging informed of staffing, process, and technology concerns.

This is a 100% on site role. Full time - 7am-3:30 pm at Bayview Medical Center (4940 Eastern Ave. Baltimore, MD).

Must work every other weekend.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Monitor daily workloads and report backlogs to Leadership
  • Ensure work is evenly distributed to employees
  • Provide direction to employees regarding scanning practices to document type assignment, documents appropriate for scanning.
  • Perform monthly quality audits.
  • Assist with monthly quality and productivity reports.
  • Scan medical records according to established policies and procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

High School diploma or GED required. Enrollment in an HIM program strongly preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to provide operational leadership to HIM employees.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and ability to interpret clinical documentation.
  • Able to analyze electronic clinical documentation, interpret and apply hospital and departmental policies.
  • Expert knowledge and experience with Document Types used in Document Imaging.
  • Detail oriented to ensure Document Imaging policies and procedures are being followed.
  • Auditing ability to perform quality reviews for accuracy of scanning.
  • Analytical ability to compile and summarize staff productivity reports.
  • Critical thinking skills to solve operational problems encountered by HIM employees when performing scanning functions.
  • Strong organizational skills to ensure timely and efficient scanning practices.
  • Strong customer relations skills to ensure prompt, thorough, and courteous responses to physicians, Medical Staff leaders, and organizational leaders in the absence of the Supervisor, Document Imaging.
  • Effective communication skills, via phone, e-mail and in person, with all customers.
  • Proficiency in the use of applicable computer software, i.e., Microsoft Word/Excel.

Required Licensure, Certification, On-going Training:

RHIT preferred.

Work Experience:

One year of experience in applicable field (i.e. ROI or Document Imaging) in a Health Information Management Department required.

Salary Range: Minimum 17.37/hour - Maximum 28.68/hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility. In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount, salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls, before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
