This is a remote role- Applicants living in Maryland, Virginia, Washington, DC, Florida, Pennsylvania, and Delaware will be given first consideration.

Job Summary

Responsible for coordinating coding audits and education initiatives to ensure the highest level of coding accuracy and compliance. Conducts in-depth reviews, provides expert guidance, and develops improvement plans for coding practices. Collaborates with cross-functional teams to enhance system integrations and ensure compliance with regulatory standards. Prepares detailed reports on program performance and supports coding production activities.

Eseential Functions

  • Conducts coding audits to ensure the highest level of compliance with regulatory standards
  • Analyzes complex coding scenarios to provide guidance and recommendations
  • Develops improvement plans based on audit findings to enhance coding practices.
  • Collaborates with healthcare staff to clarify coding issues and ensure correct coding practices.
  • Monitors compliance with federal and state regulations related to coding practices
  • Conducts training sessions for coding specialists and key stakeholders to address identified documentation and coding issues.
  • Prepares reports on audit findings and coding performance metrics
  • Supports coding production activities by providing coding guidance and assistance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in health information management or a related field
  • One year of relevant education may be substituted for one year of required work experience or one year of relevant professional-level work experience may be substituted for one year of required education.
  • Minimum 5 Years of experience in medical coding, auditing and healthcare compliance (Required)
  • Navigate rapidly changing situations, from evolving patient needs to technological advancements, by remaining flexible, continuously learning, embracing new challenges, and quickly recovering from setbacks.
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills with an emphasis on confidentiality, tact, and diplomacy.
  • Strong attention to detail and self-directed to consistently ensure data integrity and accuracy.

Active approved coding credential from AAPC or AHIMA Upon Hire (Required)

Salary Range: Minimum 31.53/hour - Maximum 52.06/hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility. In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount, salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls, before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
