The CT Technologist operates all CT Scanners located in the main Imaging Department for the purpose of performing diagnostic exams according to physician orders. Insures the efficient flow of patients to maximize throughput. Ensures complete and accurate data entry in EPIC and the PACS system.

Location: Johns Hopkins Sibley Memorial Hospital in Baltimore, MD is hiring for CT Technicians.

Schedule: 10:30 PM- 7:00 AM, Tues & Saturdays (Negotiable) 

Requirements

  • Performs all CT examinations according to department procedure and protocols.
  • Performs diagnostic evaluation in order to set up proper parameters for CT by reviewing patient’s chart and/or interviewing patients.
  • Performs POC testing for calculation of eGFR to assess patient’s renal function before injection of contrast. 
  • Obtains patient and medication history prior to the procedure and enters this into Epic. Relates all pertinent information to the radiologist.   This history as well as the LMP and the contrast information, must be entered in Epic in the appropriate fields.
  • Scans all information into the document management system as required. 
  • Resolves Image exceptions in the PACS system.
  • Prepares and/or administers contrast media, i.e. orally, IV or rectally.
  • Monitors and observes any abnormal changes in patients color, respiration, heart rate and responsiveness.  Responds appropriately to emergency situations, administers first aid/CPR as needed.  Maintains emergency equipment in the room (to include O2, suction, sphygmomanometer, stethoscope, Benadryl, Adrenalin, Epinephrine 1:1,000 and 1:10,000) to insure availability.
  • Confirms patient identification by verbal confirmation and visual ID band inspection as stated in the Radiology Safety Manual.
  • Provides radiation protection to patient, staff and self according to prescribed radiation safety standards.  Radiation protection provided, lead aprons (9.25 lbs Assists and/or moves patients independently to and from wheelchairs, stretchers and CT scan table (27” from floor).
  • Visually verifies accuracy of radiology order by checking physicians order in patient’s chart or prescription.  Verbal verification from physician may be necessary if orders are not clear.
  • Assists radiologists in specialized CT examinations such as:  biopsies.
  • Uses hospital information system to access laboratory results for biopsies and special procedures and enters specimen orders.
  • Greets patients in a courteous and respectful manner and responds to patients with empathy and routine interpersonal skills.
  • Provides physicians with completed studies.

Qualifications

  • Registration with the American Registry of Radiological Technologists. 
  • Two years of experience as a Registered Radiologic Technologist.
  • CT certification is preferred.  Technologist may apply as registry eligible but have 12 months in which to attain registry status. 
  • CPR Certification
