Physician Assistant - Cardiovascular PCU (Nights)

The APP will provide overnight coverage for approximately 20-25 adult cardiac surgery patients on the Cardiovascular Progressive Care Unit (CVPCU). The CVPCU is a 32-bed adult inpatient cardiovascular surgical unit. The cardiac surgery patient population includes coronary artery bypass, valve repairs and replacements, aortic dissections, heart and lung transplants, and mechanical circulatory support devices (Heartmate and Heartware). The unit has 3 levels of care: floor, telemetry, and intermediate. The APP will be responsible for CVPCU inpatients, as well as cardiac surgery admissions from the ICU and ED, outside hospital transfers, in-hospital consults, and triaging outpatient calls. Cardiac Surgery Fellows and the Cardiovascular Surgical Intensive Care Unit intensivists will be available to provide support

Shifts: Full time (40 hours/week) 12-hour night shift; some weekends and holidays (permanent night incentive rate)

Qualifications:

• Completion of an AMA approved Physician Assistance Program
• Licensed by the MD Board of Physicians
• CDS (prescription) and DEA (narcotics) licensure required
• Board certified or (certification eligible for new Graduate PA) by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
• BLS Health Care Provider CPR certification required: AHA or Red Cross accepted
• PA work experience with inpatient cardiac surgery patients 1 year or greater
• Provider Enrollment, Chain and Ownership Systems (PECOS) enrollment require

You must be fully credentialled by The Johns Hopkins Hospital medical board with staff privileges to start working.
