Position Summary:

• The Clinical Laboratory Scientist reports to a Lead Clinical Laboratory Scientist/Supervisor. Performs a variety of both routine and complex clinical laboratory tests in accordance with established standards and procedures. These require a professional level of knowledge to properly execute and analyze results, especially where results are abnormal or atypical.
• Specific duties may vary according to laboratory and shift assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:

• Work requires formal educational background in chemistry, hematology, immunohematology and microbiology normally acquired through completion of a two or four year post‑secondary school program in clinical laboratory technology/medical technology and/or equivalent education and training in microbiology, chemistry, hematology, immunohematology, or related field.

Work Experience:

• Clinical Laboratory Science/Medical Technology internship or (one year) equivalent clinical lab experience or course work specific to the discipline.
• This role is intended for individuals with less than 2 years of experience and for all BS/MT and equivalent degree candidates without the equivalent certification/registration.

Required Licensure, Certification, Etc.

• Certification in Medical Technology/Clinical Laboratory Science, MLT/MT/MS, ASCP or a nationally recognized professional organization is preferred.
