The Surgical Technologist helps prepare the operating room by setting up sterile surgical instruments and supplies. During the surgical procedure, the surgical tech is responsible for anticipating the needs of the surgeon by passing instruments and supplies, performing sponge/ sharps counts, and providing solutions to the surgeons. The surg tech will ensure there are no breaks in the sterile technique

. Zayed 3: Neuro / Ortho / Spine and Trauma /Transplant OR has 14 adult operating rooms. Primary surgical services include trauma, abdominal and allograft transplantation (kidney, liver, pancreas, hand) neurosurgical, orthopedic, and ortho-spine patients. The Johns Hopkins Hospital is a Level 1 Regional Trauma Center.

Shifts: 10-hour rotating shifts; weekends

Job Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent required
  • Successful completion of a Surgical Technology training program or equivalent Surg Tech Military training/work experience is required
  • BLS CPR certification required: AHA, Red Cross, or Military Training Network accepted
  • No surgical technician work experience required
