The Johns Hopkins Hospital - Outpatient Center - Otolaryngology, Head, and Neck Clinic

Certified Medical Assistant

The Otolaryngology Clinic serves both adult and pediatric patient populations. Comprehensive multidisciplinary care is coordinated for patients with cochlear implants, complex airways, facial plastics, reconstructive surgeries, and head and neck cancers. The clinic also provides specialty dentistry care.

The Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) in ambulatory practice areas function as integral members of the interdisciplinary team. The CMA is responsible for direct patient care and clinic operations in the ambulatory clinic environment, including the maintenance of the environment of care and supplies/equipment. The CMA shares the responsibility with other clinicians in ensuring a safe environment for the patient while providing quality care and a positive patient experience. The CMA functions clinically under the authority of the physician within the scope of their certification. The CMA reports to the nurse manager and/or lead nurse, who is responsible for the administrative supervision and direction of staff, orientation and annual assessment of competencies and the assurance to clinic specific and hospital policies and procedures. The CMA may be required to float between ambulatory practice areas.

Shift: 8 hour day shift

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant training program required
  • Completion of CMA certification with the credentials of RMA, NCMA, NRCMA, CCMA or CMAA required prior to hire
  • Valid BLS CPR certification required upon hire; JHH accepts AHA, Red Cross, and military training network
  • Ideal candidate will have at least 1 year of CMA experience
