Position Summary: The Sr. Financial Analyst will be responsible for managing, with a high degree of accuracy, multiple financial reports and forecasts for Johns Hopkins Medicine (JHM) Service Lines. This position will report directly to the Executive Director, Financial Integration JHHS, while working directly and collaboratively with the Executive Director, JHM Office of Integrated Healthcare Delivery.

Roles/Responsibilities include the following:

  • Understand and synthesize complex clinical and financial data from many systems of record
  • Monitor and analyze the current and projected operations residing in numerous cost objects
  • Forecast revenue and expenses including: future revenues, depreciation schedules and related documentation from analysis of historical data trends and/or with input from Finance Directors/Leaders on a regular and ad-hoc basis, prepare tracking reports analyzing expenditures/revenues versus projections;
  • Prepare internal financial documents and presentations, and review and assess materials prepared by clinical departments
  • Prepare written comments on variances from projections monthly, quarterly and at year end
  • Perform analysis regarding current annual operating plans, reporting and resolving any inconsistencies with stakeholders.
  • Recommend quality control and process improvements with regards to overall business process, working with key stakeholders and managers of financial systems
  • Utilize various tools and data analysis programs to enhance decision making surrounding costing, funding, consumption of services, pricing and integration
  • The analyst will also be responsible for enhancing decision making between key Service Line stakeholders and the JHM budget office

  • Comprehension of clinical finance in health care systems and clinical practices
  • Ability to work independently and produce work product with a high degree of accuracy
  • Ability to handle/manage and organize a heavy workload
  • Ability to establish and meet work schedules within limited time frames and under tight deadlines.
  • Able to coordinate work between key stakeholders and functions across JHM
  • High degree of detail orientation
  • Superior math aptitude
  • Extensive MS Excel experience (Pivot Tables/Advanced Formula development)
  • Beginner-Intermediate SQL experience preferred but not required
  • Office Suite (Word/Excel/Access/Outlook)
  • Strong communication skills
  • High level of self-organization
  • Understanding of concepts related to providing clinical care

Education & Experience:

Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Accounting, Healthcare Administration, or related field and five (5) years of experience in finance, preferably in a healthcare setting

Master’s Degree in Business, Accounting, Healthcare Administration, or related field and three (3) years of experience, preferably in a healthcare setting
