About this position:

The surgical coordinators manage the patient flow, staffing, emergency and rapid response events, assist with patient management and upgrading patients as needed, work closely with Bed Management, charge nurses, and the Supplemental Staffing Unit to ensure surgical cases are moved through the system and patients are in the appropriate level of care. The coordinators also manage HR and management concerns overnight and weekends. The Nursing Shift Coordinator is responsible for facilitating delegated administrative and clinical activities for nursing in a functional unit. This person possesses the clinical and management knowledge and ability to provide guidance and assistance to nursing personnel and other health care team members in patient care situations. He/she facilitates interpretation/implementation of policies and standards.

Shift: Full Time (36 hours), Night Shift, Weekends Required

What You Will Need:

  • BSN from an accredited nursing program required
  • Active Maryland or Compact RN license is required
  • BLS CPR certification required
  • Minimum five years' RN experience, with at least one year ICU experience

Skills required:

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, with all members of the interdisciplinary health care team to enhance collaboration and problem solving.
  • Ability to analyze, synthesize, and summarize information to make judgments regarding patient care and staffing issues.
