The Johns Hopkins Hospital The Ortho / Trauma Surgical Unit (Zayed 11 East) - is a 32-bed acute care surgical inpatient unit with telemetry monitoring that provides care to primarily orthopedic, ortho-spine, trauma, and general surgery patients. Common diagnoses and surgical procedures include the following: open reductions, external fixation applications, intermedullary nail insertions, joint replacements, laminectomies, spinal fusions, post-motor vehicle accident with multiple trauma, post-violent crimes, spinal cord tumors, small bowel obstructions, and abscess irrigation and debridement. Most patients admitted to Zayed 11 East are transferred from intensive care units, post-anesthesia care units, and the emergency room. Zayed 11 East is a fast-paced environment rich with many opportunities for learning. It uses a multidisciplinary approach to patient care that promotes teamwork between physicians, nursing staff, care management, therapy, and a variety of other disciplines to provide the most comprehensive care to their patients. With the present and focused committee staff involvement and unity, Zayed 11 East's powerful teamwork is the drive for its safe patient-centered care and healthy work environment that allows for the staff to thrive and grow both personally and professionally.

The Lead Clinical Nurse provides guidance and direction to staff and acts in the absence of the Assistant Nurse Manager/Nurse Manager to oversee a clinical team during care delivery and unit operations.

Shifts: Full-time, Permanent Day Shift - Weekend Option Position with Premium Differentials!

Qualifications:

  • BSN/MSN from an accredited nursing program required
  • Active Maryland or Compact RN license is required
  • BLS CPR certification required: AHA, Red Cross, or Military Training Network accepted
  • 3 years of acute care RN work experience required
  • Ability to lead others, assist in development & implementation of procedures for the unit, use principles of conflict resolution, recommend resource utilization, and implement performance management of staff
  • RN work experience in a surgical nursing specialty is preferred
