Day Shift
Position Summary:
Under the general supervision of the Chief Imaging Technologist and with the assistance of a physician, performs diagnostic ultrasound and intervention procedures, clinical research studies and orients and educates medical staff in theory and applications of sonographic technology.
Education:
High School diploma or equivalent and successful completion of an approved curriculum in diagnostic ultrasound
Work Experience:
One year of experience with clinical scanning, sonogram examinations, and equipment usage.
Licensure/Certifications:
Registered by The American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) and CPR certification
Knowledge/Skills:
- Knowledge of an Ultrasound Sonographer and a comprehensive understanding of all protocols and procedures.
- Requires comprehensive understanding of procedures and protocols followed in conducting ultrasound examinations.
- Knowledge and advanced skills in using all equipment in department
- Advanced skills are necessary to obtain and document a complete examination.
- High level analytical ability to obtain appropriate images and required measurements for a diagnostic sonography examination.
- Interpersonal and communication skills necessary to assist in teaching physicians and other health care personnel regarding the scheduling and/or procedures performed in diagnostic sonograms.
- Ability to proficiently describe preliminary clinical findings of a sonogram to the physician
