Food & Nutrition Finance Manager

The Financial Project Manager is responsible for the budgeting, reporting, and management of the Hospital financial activities of the Nutrition Department. This position coordinates all departmental funds, and may also assist with department-wide financials including clinical practice, joint administrative agreements, facility fees, research grants, contracts, affiliation agreements, endowments, general funds, discretionary accounts, and cost centers. This position is responsible for reconciling the movement of funds to/from the Hospital and the School to/from the accounts of the assigned department. The Financial Project Manager is also responsible for the design, implementation, and training of policies and procedures. This position is responsible for developing reporting systems for feedback to responsible parties including Clinical Profit and Loss, All Funds Budget variance and projections, and Hospital revenue and expense analyses. The Financial Project Manager will be expected to perform financial analyses as required to maintain fiscal control and explore program opportunities within the Department. This position will be responsible for maintaining databases as required to support the administrative systems and to perform analytic functions. The Financial Project Manager will be responsible for accounting of hospital income and expense ledgers and supporting JHH managers with their hospital budget projections and changes.

Development and review of the functional area(s)’ finances including position controls/staffing.

Annual operating and capital budgets

Financial analysis of actual and budgeted performance for all Food and Nutrition Cost Centers

Providing monthly accruals and budget variance explanations to General Accounting

Production and maintenance of the monthly financial statements and reports

Revenue reconciliation, billing, and charge entry

Retail cash handling, revenue, and point-of-sales system administration and oversight.

Procurement and expenses compliance to GPO or contractual oblication oversight.

Develop and/or monitor compliance with JHHS and JHU financial policies, internal controls, and internal audit.

Retail Cash Handling and Point-of-Sales Systems

Oversight of finance administrative team and procurement for accounts payable submissions and billing accuracy.

Food and Culinary Cost center P&L analysis and dashboard development.

FNC Staffing Position Controls and Program Budgeting/Business Development

Contracts and Permitting management for operations including renewals

Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or related field. Master’s or other advanced degree preferred.

Five or more years of experience in finance. Some experience in either university or hospital financial operations is required. Must have intermediate experience in Excel and ACCESS. Additional education may substitute for years of experience.
