 Functions as a scribe to ensure complete and accurate capture of medical information as spoken/instructed by the clinician. Assists the clinician in navigating the electronic health record.  At no time is the scribe performing independent clinical judgment or direct patient care.  Accompanies clinician in all approved patient care locations.

Hours- 8a-5p

Requirements

  • Accompanies clinician into patient exam areas for the purpose of accurately documenting the clinician’s encounter with the patient as described by the clinician. Seeks real-time clarification of all information entered into the medical record.
  • Lists diagnoses and symptoms as well as follow-up instructions and prescriptions as mentioned by the clinician.
  • Enters orders, including diagnostic testing and medications which are “pended” and require clinician approval to activate.
  • Documents procedures performed and described by the clinician.
  • Invokes the organization’s approved scribe statement for each clinical note.
  • Completes all scribe duties before leaving the patient care area.
  • Maintains professional appearance and conduct at all times.

Qualifications

High School diploma or GED required.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Human Anatomy, Physiology, Medical Terminology, Nursing, or related discipline.

Six months experience as a medical scribe, medical transcriptionist, or other related job in a medical office.

EPIC knowledge/experience.
