Work Schedule: Full time, 40 hrs/wk

Dietitian Position Summary:
The Dietitian works collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary health team to promote wellness, maintain current health, and/or intervene in acute or chronic illness in the pediatric population. Utilizes the Nutrition Care Process to provide quality care to patients with complex disease requiring specialized nutrition support. Acts within the scope of practice and is responsible for patient outcomes that meet the high standards of care provided by JHACH.


Dietitian Key Accountabilities:

  • Assesses the nutritional status and needs of patients and advises the interdisciplinary team toward development of a plan of care
  • Plans, coordinates, implements and evaluates nutritional interventions based on the assessment of the patient/family to achieve progress toward desired clinical outcomes
  • Counsels patient and family regarding nutritional care plan to facilitate their collaboration and understanding of nutritional needs
  • Documents expected outcomes or measurable goals, interventions performed and response to assist clinical practitioners including physicians in care coordination
  • Coordinates provision of nutritional foods or formulas with Patient Care Food Services and Milk Depot to assure appropriate delivery of patient nutrition
  • Interprets, evaluates, and utilizes pertinent current research related to nutritional care, and presents to the interdisciplinary team as appropriate to communicate evidenced based nutritional care for pediatric patients
  • Participates in quality improvement activities related to patient assignment to improve process and outcomes to patients
  • Participates in the education of medical providers, clinical staff and dietetic interns to communicate best nutritional practice


Dietitian Qualifications:

  • Bachelor degree from an accredited college or university
  • Registered Dietitian/Nutritionist by the Commission on Dietetic Registration, Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics
  • Dietetics/Nutritionist Licensure in the State of Florida
  • One (1) year experience in clinical setting preferred
  • Ability to travel to outreach locations for some patient assignments
