Johns Hopkins All Children's Hospital is a premiere clinical and academic health system, providing expert pediatric care for infants, children and teens with some of the most challenging medical problems. POSITION SUMMARY:

Provides patient centered, specialized, evidence-based nursing care for pediatric patients with psychiatric and mental health needs through an inter-professional approach to treatment, research, education and advocacy. APRN’s are board-certified providers that assume responsibility and accountability for health stabilization, promotion, and maintenance of acute and chronic illness or injury. Contributes to the goals of the department by being accountable for the delivery of compassionate and safe care within the scope of practice as defined by the Florida Board of Nursing and JHACH policy. Through collaborative practice with all members of the care team, this role is responsible for patient outcomes that meet the high quality of care provided by JHACH. The professional practice of nursing at JHACH involves the promotion of a culture of innovation and a commitment to academic growth and professional development.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

1. Evaluates the health condition of patients in providing safe, comprehensive clinical care

2. Application of evidence-based medicine pertinent to pediatric patients and their families to improve outcomes

3. Advances the knowledge of the inter-professional team through leading training and development programs to improve pediatric healthcare delivery and patient outcomes

4. Continuously evaluates the relationships among access, cost, quality, safety and their influence on healthcare outcomes

5. Provides leadership in the translation of new knowledge and evidence-based care into practice

6. Constant consideration of developmental level of child and family when translating health information to support positive health outcomes

7. Demonstrates understanding of internal and external APRN practice rules, regulations and legislation to maintain compliance and certification

8. Serves as an advocate for the needs of the children and their families across the health care continuum ensuring the best patient/family experience and to advance pediatric health throughout the community we serve

9. Integrates ethical principles in decision making

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Clinical Master’s Degree in Nursing or DNP
  • Two years of experience in child and adolescent psychiatry post PMNHP certification preferred.
  • Current Florida State Licensure as APRN
  • Current national Certification as Psychiatric – Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Required
  • Current DEA License
  • Current BLS
