General Summary:

  • Inspects, cleans, assembles and sterilizes surgical instrument sets. Operates cleaning and sterilization equipment in order to clean instruments and supplies. Is proficient in the technical and quality performance metrics. Guides and assists IP I’s and IP II’s. Performs QA audits.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum three years instrument processing experience required. Must have demonstrated competence in all instrument set assembly and sterilization to include all specialties
  • Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician (CSPDT) from Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD) OR Certified Registered Central Sterile Technician (CRCST) from Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA) -AND- Certified Instrument Specialist (CIS) from Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA) OR Certified Surgical Instrument Specialist (CSIS) from Certification Board of Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD) OR Certified Flexible Endoscope Reprocessor (CFER) from Certification Board for Sterile Processing Distribution (CBSPD) OR Certified Endoscope Reprocessor (CER) from Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA) (other similar may apply) *minimum of two certifications.
