Looking for a self-starter with strong written & verbal communications skills with a background in emergency management.

Position is onsite, 5 days a week, at our main Johns Hopkins Hospital campus in Baltimore, MD.

This position is intended to support the planning and operations functions for The Johns Hopkins Hospital Office of Emergency Management (JHHOEM). This includes researching, reviewing, and drafting “all-hazards” emergency plans and polices, developing and conducting related exercises, drills, and trainings; as well as serving as a command position during activation of the Johns Hopkins Hospital Incident Command Center (HICC).

  • Supports JHHOEM planning functions with researching, reviewing, and drafting “all-hazards” emergency plans and polices.
  • Completes an annual hazard vulnerability analysis (HVA) of Johns Hopkins Hospital (JHH) in conjunction with JHH Emergency Management Committee.
  • Uses the annual hazard vulnerability analysis (HVA) of JHH, in conjunction with the Director, to draft and develop relevant trainings, drills and exercise based on the top-ranked hazards or risks
  • Maintains the operational readiness of the JHH Emergency Operations Plan and Hospital Incident Command Center.
  • Supports departmental leadership with development and operational readiness of emergency operations / preparedness plans and departmental continuity plans.
  • Develops, implements, and manages an effective and ongoing exercise/drill and training program for the JHHOEM that meets the regulatory requirements for the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services, The Joint Commission, and the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
  • Serves in a command position during activations of the HICC.
  • Prepares and analyzes post-incident damage assessments, including preparation and review of After-Action Reports.
  • Advises local, state, and federal disaster officials on relevant information related to emergency management operations at JHHOEM.
  • Regularly presents updates and training materials to Hospital Staff including the Emergency Management Committee and Hospital Incident Command Team.
  • Serves on various committees related to emergency management and attends assigned emergency management meetings for JHHOEM.
  • Supports on-call duties by serving as an Emergency Manager on Duty (EMOD).

Education:

Bachelor’s required. Master’s in emergency management, public health, public service, or a similar concentration is preferred.

Experience:

Minimum of 3-4 years of previous work experience in an emergency management, project mgmt, public health, or public service field. Master’s degree will substitute for 2 years of
work experience.

Required Licensure, Certification, Etc.:

None required. Certification healthcare emergency management (i.e., CHEP), or equivalent preferred.

Johns Hopkins Health System requires all employees be fully vaccinated against the COVID-19 virus.
