Job Summary

The Senior Plant Operator operates and maintains Central Power Plant (CPP) steam generators, steam turbines, electrical chillers and auxiliary machinery. Oversees the work of the Jr. Plant Operator. This work is performed under general supervision, following standard procedures and using the tools and techniques of power plant operation and maintenance technology.

Education Requirement: High School Diploma or equivalent

Knowledge: Demonstrated knowledge of power plant operation and maintenance theory, techniques, codes, procedures, and materials. This includes operation of boilers, pumps, steam turbines, steam systems, chillers and refrigeration cycle; and maintenance of pumps, valves, pneumatic controls, and compressors.

Work Experience: 5 Years of related work experience required.

Machines, Tools, Equipment: Demonstrated competency to correctly operate all types of tools and equipment normally used in power plant operation and maintenance including operation of boilers, pumps, turbines, steam systems and chillers, maintenance of pumps, valves and compressors; and powered portable, bench and hand tools (such as drills, grinders, compressed air), as well as non-powered hand tools; and various types of measuring and testing equipment and computer control or monitoring systems.
