POSITION SUMMARY:
The Executive Director, Supply Chain Integration reports to the Vice President – Sightline for Johns Hopkins Enterprise (JHE), with an indirect reporting relationship to the Vice President – Strategic Initiatives for Johns Hopkins Health System (JHHS) and is responsible for strategic direction, oversight and consultative support for institutional wide system integration, including people, process and technology as it relates to Supply Chain. In addition, this role will closely integrate into the leadership team of the Vice President & Chief Supply Chain Officer – at Johns Hopkins Health System, ensuring collaboration, and the bi-directional flows of information from the project team and central corporate Supply Chain strategy. This role will work closely with the Johns Hopkins Health System Supply Chain, Finance Leadership, Johns Hopkins Information Technology, and Johns Hopkins University resources, and will establish and maintain relationships with other research institutions and academic medical centers in order to benchmark or compare potential strategies. This position will ensure shared governance and strategy alignment across the operational and project teams, and is responsible for end-to-end integration activities to ensure successful implementation and completion of agreed-upon strategies.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Translate the strategic direction and business objectives established by Johns Hopkins Medicine (JHM) and JHHS leadership into holistic change strategies appropriate within the operating environment.
  2. Develop the strategy for system use across JHM/JHHS, primarily in support of Supply Chain, and at appropriate intersection and integration points with other functional areas including HR, finance, and business operations
  3. Understand/design efficient and effective business processes in collaboration with leadership to allow for optimal utilization of systemic tools.
  4. Coordinate and plan major system implementations across JHM/JHHS, accounting for needs to standardize system usage to maintain effective and efficient processes and consistent financial controls.
  5. Serves as a key business contributor to long-term overall technology strategic planning. Liaison with Information Technology for the evaluation of new technologies to assess enterprise value and impact.
  6. Support the design and implementation of governance functions, both pre- and post-system implementations, primarily in Supply Chain, and at appropriate intersection and integration points with other functional areas including HR, finance, and business operations. Will also partner with university counterparts in procurement operations to mitigate any cross-functional impacts.
  7. Plan, design, develop, deliver, and evaluate training and knowledge management programs to cultivate desired workforce capabilities. For major system installations, ensure appropriate training and job aid resources are developed and maintained to promote appropriate in-system behavior.
  8. Define the framework and direction for all communication efforts, develop/review messaging, and facilitate the change process by structuring and/or coordinating communication activities. Facilitate senior leadership involvement, and include all stakeholders from top to bottom of JHM/JHHS administration and operations to ensure alignment and accelerate change.
  9. Works with supply chain leaders and Human Resources to create JHM’s Supply Chain workforce of the future; identifies changing skills, designs the future Supply Chain position framework, and defines Supply Chain career paths.
  10. Chairs committees and engages JHM/JHHS leadership to develop strategic direction, recommend improvement areas, elevate potential strategic and operational risks, and to determine mitigation strategies. Coordinates, organizes, and manages planning and execution of selected strategies and system improvements.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  1. BS/BA in related field, post graduate degree strongly preferred.
  2. Requires 10+ years of progressively responsible related experience in supply chain
  3. Requires 5-7 years of leadership experience with significant business impact
  4. Experience in a health care setting is preferred
  5. The role requires a deep understanding of Supply Chain functions, including, but not limited to, knowledge of GPO and local contract sourcing, value analysis and related procedures pertaining to materials management and purchasing.
  6. Extensive knowledge of product categories, proposals processes, asset inventory procedures, negotiations, bid procedures, audit procedures, leasing and capital purchase procedures is also required.
  7. Excellent knowledge of products used in the clinical setting as well as purchased services, facilities, support services and capital functions.
  8. Comprehensive knowledge of product optimization for financial, operational and quality improvement.
  9. Deep knowledge of analytical concepts and strong change management knowledge.
  10. Knowledge of contemporary health care environment, standard clinical and operating procedures including clinical, economic and policy trends.
  11. Knowledge of financial management, ERP supply chain applications and supply chain experience in a health care setting is preferred but not required.
