Reporting to the Manager of Environmental Care, the Supervisor Trainee 1 is responsible to learn the skills and functions of the EVC Supervisor position through On-the-Job training and successfully completing related classroom instruction. The Trainee 1 is responsible for learning how to deliver quality and reliable services to the JHH community which includes patients, families, health care providers, researchers, staff and visitors. The Trainee 1 shall work closely with and assist EVC Supervisor to learn to develop daily priorities to achieve departmental objectives and<br> goals and to support the programmatic and fiscal strategies for the department. The Trainee 1 will learn to ensure that performance standards meet the service expectations of a broad client base, which will include: monitoring productivity, tracking progress and customer satisfaction results, and learning how to maintain effective communication skills with clients and stakeholders. Trainee 1 will learn to Ensure work quality and performance in compliance with Departmental and Hospital standards, procedures and policies; the collective bargaining agreement; and local, state and federal codes. Trainee 1 will learn to utilize quality assurance tools effectively to ensure a consistently high level of cleanliness (i.e. checklists). The Trainee 1 will learn to provide excellent customer service to patients, families and staff. Works with staff to improve HCAHPS and Press Ganey scores and strives to meet and surpass Hospital goals for HCAHPS. Works with staff to ensure consistently high cleanliness scores (i.e. Environmental Cleaning Monitoring, ECM). Trainee 1 shall learn to coordinate the development, implementation, and maintenance of programs, routines and schedules. Trainee 1 will learn to plan, schedule, assign, direct and supervise the work performed by bargaining unit staff. Trainee 1 shall work closely with other Facilities staff members to ensure a well-coordinated provision of environmental services. Trainee 1 shall support safety programs for the continual maintenance of a safe work place and a safety conscious staff. Trainee 1 will learn how to directly supervise staff in the delivery of programs necessary to maintain clean facilities in the most efficient and effective manner. Trainee 1 will learn about and observe hiring, training, evaluation, and termination of staff as required. Trainee 1 will learn to evaluate and make recommendations on equipment, supplies and procedures. Trainee 1 will learn to<br> ensure that all activities and programs are accomplished in accordance with statutory requirements and regulatory guidelines. Performs other related duties as required. The goal of the Trainee 1 is to complete a minimum of four related off-site instruction courses and to perform each objective for each job function with instruction and close supervision

Education:

Requires a minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent.

Work Experience:

Two Years work experience required

Knowledge/Skills:

  • Fundamental aspects of cleaning and have strong understanding of people and what motivates and satisfies them.
  • Fundamental operational understanding of health care environmental services good business practices, service excellence, human resources, inventory control, environmental services systems and standards and infection control.
  • Fundamental aspects of cleaning, floor care and trash removal in a healthcare environment.
  • Safety rules, procedures and practices, including the proper use of safety equipment as defined by OSHA and industry standards.
  • Functional knowledge of computer applications (PC and network-based), including Windows Office suite, departmental email, database and work order processing application packages.
  • Interpersonal skills to communicate with customers and staff regarding delivery dates, services, staff issues.
  • Must have basic computer skills and understand how to use email and other word processing and data collection tools.
  • Analytical ability to solve problems quickly and accurately for the customers.
  • Applies cleaning, floor care, trash removal, safety and computer knowledge indicated herein.
  • Consistently applies effective customer service skills.
  • Safely uses tools and equipment indicated herein.
  • Requires proficient written and verbal English communication skills to interact with patients, departmental/JHM staff and outside vendors/contractors.
  • Ability to supervise front line Bargaining Unit employees who work in disparate locations.
  • Identifies and avoids hazards as indicated by warning labels, signage, lights and other warning devices.
  • Performs work within reasonable lengths of time as measured against industry or engineered standards.
