General Summary:
- Under the direction of the JHH Director of Central Sterile Processing plans, organizes, directs, and evaluates cleaning, disinfection and sterilization activities for the JHH Sterile Processing Department and select JHM ambulatory clinics. Provides leadership to achieve departmental and institutional objectives within a rapidly changing environment. Assumes responsibilities for maintaining adequate inventory of instruments and equipment, and knowledge and skill in the use of instruments and equipment. Responsible for all processes associated with cleaning, assembly and sterilization of surgical instrumentation, storage of specific instrumentation, surgical sets and patient care equipment. Manages staff members at multiple geographical locations and plans, organizes, implements, and evaluates certification and other educational programs. Develops, in collaboration with JHH HEIC, new training programs to meet organizational as well as departmental needs as determined by needs assessment, regulatory requirements, and other pertinent measures. Develops measurement tools to monitor and report quality and productivity within department, on a regular basis. Follows all regulation of AAMI, AORN, and other regulatory agencies. Maintains compliance with TJC Standards and other regulatory agencies as appropriate. Participates in JHH regulatory and accreditation surveys. Provides oversight of and direction for instrument movement across multiple JHM entities, including JHM clinics.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor degree in business management or operational science required such as industrial engineering. Master degree preferred. Certification in sterile processing required with additional course work in medical terminology, quality assurance, quality control, and business management strongly recommended. Demonstrated knowledge of theories and practices of training and development, organizational behavior, change management, group dynamics, adult and organizational learning modes is required. Certification in sterile processing management/leadership (or equivalent) required within 1 year of hire.
- Requires a minimum of eight (8) years professional experience in sterile processing with college degree. Requires a minimum of 14 years professional experience in sterile processing or closely related field (e.g surgical technician) without college degree. A minimum of 3 years’ supervisory experience with a track record of progression is required.
- CRCST Certified Registered Central Sterile Service Technician
Salary Range: Minimum 34.27 per hour - Maximum 59.98 per hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility.
In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount, salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls, before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
