Position Summary:

Performs maintenance, adjustment, repair, installation and modification work for JHH master key systems and all associated components. This work is performed under general supervision using the tools and techniques of life safety and locksmith technology.

Competencies:

A.

Education:

High school diploma or equivalent.

Successful completion of formal training in an approved Locksmith program at a vocational or technical school, college, or apprenticeship sponsor organization.

B.

Knowledge:

Knowledge of Life Safety and Locksmith techniques, procedures and materials.

Knowledge of safety rules, procedures and practices, including the proper use of safety equipment as defined by OSHA and industry standards.

C.

Skills:

Applies life safety, locksmith and general safety knowledge indicated herein.

Safely uses tools and equipment indicated herein.

Ability to solve problems and manage information indicated herein.

Requires proficient written and verbal English communication skills, at least on an high school graduate level, to interact with departmental/JHM staff.

Identifies and avoids hazards as indicated by warning labels, signage, lights and other warning devices.

Performs work within reasonable lengths of time as measured against trade, industry or engineered standards.

D.

Required Licensure, Certification, etc.:

Certification as a Locksmith.

E.

Work Experience:

5 years related work experience.

The full-time equivalent spent in an approved program may count toward the 5-year work experience requirement.

F.

Machines, Tools, Equipment:

All types of tools and equipment normally used in the locksmith trade including, key machines (automatic, semi-automatic, flat steel, 1200cm code machines, grinder machines), portable machinery (circular saw, jig saw, belt sander, orbital sander, router, lock mortise machine), powered bench and hand tools (such as drills, grinders, compressed air), as well as non-powered hand tools.
