Patient Care Tech Intern – Oncology

Part time - Night Shift - 36 hours

Weinberg 5A is a 15-bed inpatient unit that provides medical care to adult oncology patients. On this unit, you will care for patients with acute leukemia and other hematological malignancies, blood and marrow transplants, and solid tumors. Our hematologic malignancy and hematology patients have access to some of the most innovative and advanced therapies in the world. Because Kimmel Cancer Center research scientists and clinicians closely work together, new drugs and treatments developed in the research laboratory are quickly transferred to the clinical setting, offering patients improved therapeutic options and the chance to participate in innovative clinical trials.

The Patient Care Tech Intern works under the supervision of a nurse, and taking into consideration the developmental needs of the patient, performs routine patient activities and delegated patient care procedures of a specialized and technical nature as competency documentation designates.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Active Nursing Assistant Certification (CNA) in Maryland is required.
  • Entry-level knowledge of basic clinical skills required to support nursing personnel with patient care activities and related services focused on the needs and comfort of patients. PCT Intern will remain in an intern role for no longer than 1 year. The PCT Intern will advance to the PCT I upon meeting training requirements.
  • BLS CPR certification required: AHA, Red Cross, or Military Training Network accepted.

Salary Range: Minimum $17.00/hour - Maximum $​​​​17.00/hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility.
