Physician – Minimally Invasive Surgery
Johns Hopkins Community Physicians is seeking a skilled minimally invasive General Surgeon to provide comprehensive surgical care. This role focuses on delivering exceptional patient care through both inpatient and outpatient settings. The physician will perform surgical procedures, manage patient cases, and work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team across several locations within the Johns Hopkins Health System focusing efforts in the National Capital Region at Sibley Memorial Hospital.
Clinical Responsibilities
- Provide direct care for patients requiring minimally invasive surgery, including abdominal, digestive, and esophageal procedures.
- Maintain high standards of patient satisfaction by following Johns Hopkins' patient-centered care practices, such as HCAPS/CGCAPS.
- Coordinate the clinical schedule, including patient appointments, surgeries, and on-call duties in collaboration with clinical leadership.
- Work in collaboration with other physicians, residents, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and nursing staff to ensure seamless care across various clinical settings.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, contributing expertise on minimally invasive conditions to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Patient Care and Quality
- Monitor and maintain high levels of care quality and patient safety, engaging in continuous improvement practices.
- Regularly review patient outcomes, including morbidity and mortality data, to ensure clinical excellence and implement improvements as necessary.
- Participate in hospital-wide quality improvement programs, including Quality Assessment and Process Improvement (QAPI) initiatives.
Collaboration and Clinical Efficiency
- Work with clinical support staff to ensure efficient operations in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
- Collaborate with JHHS administration to ensure that clinical resources are utilized efficiently and meet operational goals.
- Ensure compliance with credentialing requirements for surgeons and clinical staff.
Professional Development
- Stay current with advancements in minimally invasive surgery through continuing education and by participating in relevant professional associations and conferences.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to residents, fellows, and clinical staff as needed.
Qualifications:
Required:
- M.D. or equivalent degree.
- Completion of a General Surgery residency program accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) and board certification or eligibility in General Surgery.
- Fellowship training or experience in minimally invasive surgery techniques, with proficiency in laparoscopic and robotic-assisted procedures.
