Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital is recruiting a Pediatric Hematologist to join our growing and nationally recognized hematology program in the Tampa Bay area. This is an exceptional opportunity to become part of a deep and collaborative division with expertise spanning the full spectrum of pediatric hematology. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in sickle cell disease, along with a broad interest in general hematology and the evaluation and management of patients with clotting disorders.
Position Highlights
- Join a large, highly specialized pediatric hematology division with expertise across the full spectrum of pediatric hematologic disorders.
- Provide comprehensive care for children with sickle cell disease and thalassemia, including both acute and chronic disease management.
- Become an integral member of a well-established sickle cell program caring for patients across a broad regional referral area.
- Participate in the care of patients undergoing gene therapy and curative treatment for sickle cell disease as the program expands its newly established gene therapy and bone marrow transplant capabilities.
- Opportunity to develop or expand expertise in hemostasis, specifically thrombosis and other rare coagulation disorders.
- Provide evaluation and management of common pediatric hematologic conditions, including iron deficiency anemia and other anemias, immune thrombocytopenic purpura and neutropenia.
- Collaborate closely with physicians who have specialized expertise in sickle cell disease, thrombosis, bleeding disorders, and other areas of pediatric hematology.
- Practice primarily at a Tampa Bay-area outpatient care center, with inpatient responsibilities at Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital in St. Petersburg.
- Join a division with a strong academic focus, including research, publications, program development, and opportunities for teaching and mentorship.
Minimum Qualifications
- Medical degree, (MD or DO).
- Completion of an ACGME-accredited Pediatric residency.
- Completion of an accredited Pediatric Hematology/Oncology fellowship.
- Board certification or board eligibility in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology.
- Candidates at various career stages are encouraged to apply, including early-career physicians with strong fellowship training and experienced pediatric hematologists seeking a new opportunity in Florida.
- Clinical experience caring for pediatric patients with sickle cell disease is required.
- Strong foundation in general pediatric hematology, including evaluation and management of anemia and other common hematologic conditions.
- Interest and/or experience in clotting disorders and thrombosis is highly desirable.
- Ability to provide compassionate, comprehensive care to children and adolescents with both common and complex hematologic disorders.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills and a commitment to multidisciplinary care.
- Candidates must be eligible for medical licensure in the State of Florida.
